Steve Hogan for Mayor
For over thirty years Steve Hogan has devoted his professional career to making Aurora a better place to live, work and raise a family. As a state representative, city councilman, public transportation executive and small businessman, Steve has contributed his expertise in land use, water policy, budget management, transportation planning and environmental stewardship to build a better, more vibrant Aurora. From his leadership on the construction of E-470 to his efforts to protect Buckley Air Force Base, Steve Hogan’s civic resume is unmatched in its depth, breadth and quality of work experience. As our next Mayor, Steve will bring his passion for excellence and four decades of public policy experience, to realize an even better City.
A 39-year resident of Aurora, Steve Hogan is married to Becky Hogan. Together they have lived in the High Point neighborhood since 2007. Steve’s career in service to Aurora began in 1974 when he ran successfully for House District 40, a district that then included most of the Arapahoe County portion of the City. After serving in the State Capitol as a legislator for one term, Steve ran for one of the City’s At-Large City Council seats in 1979, besting several strong candidates in the most competitive council election in decades. His successful run that year began a remarkable and unprecedented record of service on Aurora City Council – six non-consecutive full terms over thirty years, ending in 2009.
During his years on Council, Steve provided a leadership role in several significant components of the City’s development—including city budgeting, regional cooperation, air quality, water management, local business interests, city personnel, and urban renewal.
Concurrent with his career in elective office, Steve oversaw the creation and expansion of one of Aurora’s main thoroughfares as Executive Director of the E-470 Public Highway Authority. During his tenure from 1991 to 1998, Steve delivered a key transportation project, adding lanes and 30 miles of new road. Next, Steve led the Northwest Parkway Authority for ten years until 2008, building on his expertise as a transportation and development official. Steve’s proud of these two key elements of the metro area’s transportation network – both of which were delivered on time and under budget.
Steve Hogan is proud of his four decades of service to Aurora. As a product of our great City, Steve brings an unequaled understanding of how our city works and how to make it even better.
